If you are looking for a novel that flows in a predictable mannerthis is not it. I have had the disease for many years, and still found things I was not sure of. An excellent reference for the Merchant Marine Deck Officer! This book has been with me around the world, wherever I have sailed the last 11 years. Dialectal differences between characters, accents portrayed in spelling, even the different styles of speaking from the two narrators, were all extremely well executed. So don't let that be destracting, it is common with many practices. Never out of print, selling at least 100,000 copies per year, this high-action, philosophical novel highlights, in action, the philosophy of one of mankind's most innovative minds. The book is well structured and easy to read (the author's hope of a novel-like read is almost achieved, but sorry chaps, no happy ending, we have still to pass examinations), despite the maths being quite advanced.
