Conflict of Interests: The Politics of American Education provides a critical understanding of the political and social forces shaping educational politics in the United States. It describes and analyzes how policy is made for American schools, and its effect on all our lives and thinking. Spring argues that the politics of Education is driven by a complex interrelationship between politicians, private foundations and thinktanks, teachers’ unions, special-interest groups, educational politicians, school administrators, boards of education, courts, and the knowledge industry. This text uses many current examples to illustrate conflicts over educational policies. Spring links these conflicts to economics, culture, multiculturalism, language, religion, and equal opportunity. Spring discusses textbook publishing, standardized testing, the political uses of the judicial system, and the politics of education at each level of government.

A wonderful selection of rarely seen documents from the Private Archives of the Vatican (not 'Secret'--a bit of sensationalism to hype the exhibit). This is Amazon printing the ripped-off text of this book because it's out of copyright, in a word-processed document, on the cheapest and flimsiest paper imaginable, putting a slap-dash cover on it, and printing it on-demand when you order it. In fact Patterson's earlier "Photography and the Art of Seeing" does a better job. *****

9. Some of this information is valuable.

4) Even though Black's conciseness is much appreciated, at times he can be a bit too concise. I wouldn't remove any of the recipes; I'd just add an asterisk to many of them.

Still, as a starting point, it's interesting.. If there is less than a star ratingI would've given it.. The folks at the S.E.C. Along the way, you see the rest of the Seattle Lumberjacks gang and what they're up to! It sure made for some laugh out loud moments!
