As the first book in what appears to be a new series, this read did not disappoint. He is expelled from college, gets fired from one job and loses commissions because of his absolute refusal to compromise his principles. I have already read it twice and have recommended it to my friends, who are now recommending it to their friends! The book ends on a cliffhanger and the reader is left wondering as to what to happen next! I cannot wait to get my hands on the second installment. Maybe I should say how they misperceived them. This book is about Thane, one of the sent ones. That makes it difficult to use on your own. I do not know if the Chinese interpretation of qi is 100% accurate -- it probably isn't -- but nonetheless, their speculations and hypotheses are sound and make a lot of sense. But the way he goes about it gets annoying at times, almost to the point of self congratulatory gloating.
